Divorce & Separation, Family
As well as being extremely rewarding for parents, the adoption process finds families for some of our most vulnerable children.
70,440 children were in the care of the UK Local Authorities on the 31st March 2016. Just 4% of these children, amounting to 2,940 were placed for adoption.
Choosing to adopt is one of the most important life decisions a parent can make but the benefits for a child or children are immense. Kirklees Council have their own dedicated adoption team to help parents through the process. Adoption is encouraged as unfortunately, many children are in need of a loving home.
Sadly, there are many children looking for an adoptive family who are part of sibling groups, have complex and often challenging backgrounds as well as medical or health and development needs. These children wait a long time to find a loving adoptive family and can often remain in the care of the Local Authority for their whole childhood.
Adoption is an option for many people who want to be parents. Some couples or single parents will have one wish this Christmas, for a baby or a child to form part of their family. The adoption process makes their wish possible.
At Ramsdens, our family team regularly act in Care Proceedings for vulnerable children who may be placed for adoption, as well as parents seeking legal support and guidance throughout the adoption process.
We can offer advice to would be parents regarding the legal aspects of adoption. We offer free 30 minute appointments from 7:30am until 7:00pm at any of our 12 offices across West Yorkshire. Call our Family Helpline free today on 08000 147720 to book an appointment.
