Dealing with the consequences of brain injury can be extremely difficult. In a recent study by Headway UK, as part of their Brain Drain – Wake up to Fatigue campaign it has been shown that almost 90% of brain injury survivors' lives are negatively affected by ‘pathological fatigue’, with 80% saying their lives would be improved if people had a better understanding.
Charities such as Headway are very a important line of support to those injured and their families, providing support, service and information to brain injury survivors, their family and carers.
In our recent blogs we have focused on injury due to the fault of a third party. However, not all injuries are the fault of another. If this is the case it is very difficult for the injured party to obtain any treatment on the NHS, other than basic treatment for their injuries and basic rehabilitation.
In cases such as these, Charities like Headway are of great importance. Headway assist injured people in many ways including financially, freephone advice lines, online community support, nurse availability, supplying brain injury ID cards and online aids for managing effects of injury, such as fatigue.
Ramsdens are proud to support Headway as often as possible and have recently held a number of fundraisers in aid of the Challenge 40 campaign.
Many injured people would not be able to cope without the support of Headway and we hope that the Action against Brain Injury week campaign has inspired you to become involved in their cause and break the stigma of brain injury related effects.
