In an age where many people's lives are lived through social media it is understandable that divorcing spouses and partners may take to social media in order to vent their frustrations and feelings during what can be a stressful and emotional time. We must, however, warn of the potential dangers of social media. Using social media to abuse your spouse or make accusations about them could lead to negative consequences during any Court Proceedings. At worst, it could lead to proceedings being taken against you by the police or by way of a Family Court Non-Molestation Order, which can prevent you from having any form of communication with your spouse.
Our advice is simple, leave your feelings and thoughts in relation to your spouse away from social media. Instead, seek support through counselling and your GP. Posting potentially damaging comments on social media simply is not worth the risks involved.
At Ramsdens, we are members of Resolution. Resolution seek for divorce and separation to be dealt with as amicably as possible. We feel this is incredibly important. We want to ensure divorces are dealt with in such a way to reduce the emotional strain involved, as well as keeping costs to a minimum.
