Last week, we published a blog in regard to the effect upon litigation of the Covid 19 outbreak.
As can be imagined, the procedures being put in place are changing very quickly as the pandemic continues to cause remote working across the country, with normal procedures being difficult to follow.
Commencing this week a large percentage of Court Buildings will close in the interest of following the Government Guidelines.157 of Courts will remain open, dealing with priority work. This represents just 42% of the normal Courts open throughout the Country.
We are still finding that Courts are dealing with cases, hearings and directions on a very much case by case basis. Most hearings are being adjourned until the ability for parties to deal remotely is clarified to the Court and all inquest work is now adjourned until September.
In personal injury litigation, the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and the Forum of Insurance Lawyers have been working together to put in place a “best practice document” which encourages Claimants and Defendants to work together. We must all look at cases sensibly in what are challenging times.
These are very difficult times for everybody and our Personal Injury team are here to provide you with help and advice. To find out what this will mean for your compensation claim, call us free on 0800 804 7450, text CLAIMS to 80988, or submit your claim online and a member of the team will get back to you as soon as possible.
