E Scooter Trials are here and already underway in London. They are also due to start in York very soon.
The trials come as the Department for Transport attempts to assist and support a green restart of local travel and to help mitigate reduced public transport capacity. They state E-Scooters offer potential for fast, clean and inexpensive travel.
At present, an e-scooter is classed as a motor vehicle, it must be insured and users must have a valid driving licence to use them. Following trials there will be considerations as to whether the e-scooter will be classed as electrically assisted pedal cycles (EAPCs) and not a motor vehicle but the trials will play an important role in any decisions being made.
We need to be mindful of the potential impact of e-scooters on users and pedestrians and that, whilst they may be the way forward for faster, greener travel, we don’t want that to come at a cost.
We have updated our website to include more information on e-scooters and invite you to take a look here.
If you think you could be entitled to compensation following an e-scooter accident, call the Ramsdens Solicitors team now on our freephone number 0800 804 7450. Alternatively, you can submit a claim online and a member of the team will get back to you about your accident claim.
