On Friday 26 July, staff from across all fifteen of the Ramsdens’ offices collected food donations for the nationwide ‘End Holiday Hunger’ campaign.
The campaign has been put in place to help ensure children have access to nutritious food throughout the summer holidays and helps to prevent their families from entering food poverty and insecurity.
With offices across Yorkshire, Ramsdens’ staff collected £800 worth of food donations for The Welcome Centre, Huddersfield; Fusion Foodbank, Dewsbury; Holme Valley Food Bank, Holmfirth and York Foodbank, York. The donations included non-perishable food items such as cereals, preserves, crisps, tinned food and UHT milk – all items which can be used to cover five days’ worth of breakfasts, lunches and snacks throughout the six week holidays.
Paul Joyce, Managing Partner at Ramsdens commented: “The initiative was set up as an alternative to a monetary donation for the monthly dress down day and has proven a huge success. Food poverty is still a huge issue across the UK and is sadly a reality for 1 in 5 children across the country. At Ramsdens we are committed to ensuring that charity and the community are at the heart of our business and strive to make continued positive contributions.”
