What are your career highlights so far?
"I have worked closely with the charity, IDAS, throughout my time at Ramsdens. I hold a regular Legal Clinic at the Women’s Refuge in York alongside the Personal Injury and Abuse Team and have given presentations to IDAS in relation to Family Law matters and the Criminal Injury Compensation Scheme.
I am extremely proud to have secured a training contract at Ramsdens and to have worked within the Family, Care, Commercial Property, Court of Protection and Conveyancing departments so far. I also completed my first hearing in the Care Department and a number of hearings in the Family Department and hope to continue improving my advocacy skills in my remaining seats."
Blogs that Katie has written include:
What is one legal myth that you’d love to dispel?
"A Pre-Nuptial Agreement is a persuasive document and is not legally binding!"
What made you want to work in your sector?
"With the aim of qualifying as a Solicitor I wanted to secure a training contract so that I could experience an array of legal work in different areas of Law. As a Trainee you complete four seats in different departments over a two year period and gain a breadth of different skills from each one. Law embodies problem solving, interpersonal skills and as an ever-evolving profession, It never fails to provide its challenges. I knew a career in law would keep me feeling accomplished and on my toes throughout my working life and I look forward to overcoming many more hurdles in the future."
