Stephanie is an Associate in our Private Wealth and Succession department.
Starting her career at Ramsdens back in 2005 as an office junior, Stephanie has developed her career with us by studying for her CILEX qualifications over 5 years on evenings and weekends, before finally qualifying in 2018 as a Chartered Legal Executive (she is a member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives). Stephanie was then promoted to Associate in May 2023.
In her earlier years Stephanie worked in our Conveyancing department, but has been a part of our Private Client team since 2009, and has worked at our Slaithwaite office for over 10 years. During her time with the firm Stephanie has gained a wealth of experience on all Private Client related matters.
Stephanie supports Cancer Research with their Will Writing Service, which is a charitable scheme we run throughout the year. She also specialises in Will Writing for Philatelists and Numismatists, and has strong connections within the stamp and coin industry, attending events and shows each year. She is also a member of the Crash and Wreck Society, and has a keen personal interest in the world of philately.
Outside of work, Stephanie volunteers for Co-Operative Care Colne Valley (the organisation offers a high quality home care service to our elderly and vulnerable community) and has been a Board Director since November 2021.
Stephanie specialises in:
What are your career highlights so far?
"This has to be acting for my favourite soap star and completing new Wills for their family!"
What is one legal myth that you’d love to dispel?
"There is no such thing as a common law husband or wife!"
Or
"If you have a Will, your estate will not need to go through probate!"
What made you want to work in your sector?
"I have always had an interest in law since I was a little girl, but didn’t know how I wanted to develop this interest into a career and explored many options in my late teens. I initially applied to Ramsdens for 3 month work experience to sit alongside my studies at college when I was 17 years old but quickly realised I wanted to work at a law firm whilst being here, so much so, I never left! Private Client was something I fell into , but the area of law is very diverse, and no two days are the same and I had an instant love for the area of law. As a Private Client Lawyer we deal directly with clients, and have a lot of interaction with them, and their families and loved ones, and you get to know some of them personally. We deal with their needs at what can often be a very difficult and upsetting time, and I do generally get a sense of helping and making a difference to others, and there is a real pleasure in working with your clients and receiving appreciation from them for the job that you do."
